Krassimir Manev and Elena Marinova(President of Musala Soft), co-chairs of the initiative committee together with Bisserka Yovcheva, Alexey Hristov and the President of the Republic of Bulgaria Rosen Plevneliev announced that in September 2017, Sofia will host the first International Youth Olympiad in Informatics – EJOI. The first International Olympiad in Informatics was established also in Bulgaria in 1989 and took place in Pravets. Today the Olympiad in Informatics gathers participants from over 80 countries. Head of the team is Ch. Assist. Prof. Emil Kelevedjiev. According to the summary rating of medals of all time, Bulgaria ranks fifth in the world – we have won 95 medals, including 23 gold, 35 silver and 37 bronze. By 2016, our best player was Rumen Hristov who won 3 gold and 2 silver medals (five consecutive Olympiads). He held for a long time the third place in the ranking and is currently fifth in the world. The best Bulgarian contestant (second in the world ranking in Informatics) is Hristo Venev with 4 gold and 1 silver medal.

President of the International Olympiad in Informatics is Professor Krassimir Manev.
