Musala Soft - general sponsor of "Mathematics in Industry" Conference    (Българска версия)

Mrs. Tsetska Tsacheva, President of the 41st National Assembly of Bulgaria opened the International Conference "Mathematics in Industry" on Sunday, held in Sofia during the period 11-13 July. The Conference is organized under the patronage of Mr. Traycho Traykov, Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism and celebrates the 20th anniversary of European Mathematical Society (EMS). During the following three days the modern view of Mathematics in industry application would be revealed through world authorities' lectures.

Mrs. Tsacheva shared that Mathematics was her first priority and although she changed her interests, the way it forms thinking and morality remains for a lifetime. Mrs. Tsacheva expressed her strong conviction that "Mathematicians and Informaticians are the architectures of the future - they make the world more interesting. Prof. Ari Laptev, President of EMS also shared that Mathematics was his first love but he remained devoted to his passion. Prof. Laptev highly appreciates the achievements of Bulgarian mathematicians and is deeply impressed by the positive attitude toward science of Bulgarian Government.

Among the opening's special guests that welcomed the audience were: Acad. Nikola Sabotinov, President of the Bulgarian Academy of Science (BAS); Acad. Blagovest Sendov, former President of BAS, former President and Vice-president of the National Assembly and former Bulgarian ambassador in Japan; Acad. Stefan Dodunekov, Director of the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics and Chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Mathematicians' Board; Petar Denev, Secretary General of the Bulgarian Industrial Association and Delyan Lilov, CEO in Musala Soft - general sponsor of the Conference.

"Musala Soft is here because we believe that this is the future. We were invited to sponsor the Conference and thus to enable free participation of young people. It took us less than a minute to make the decision. We believe Bulgaria's future is in products and services with high added value. Their realization lays in the strong basis of science, close cooperation between science and industry and investment in people, whose researches and scientific works have business applicability" - said Delyan Lilov.

During a two-days meeting of EMS Council, preceding the Conference, the strategy for the upcoming two years was outlined and the new president of EMS was elected - Mrs. Marta Sanz-Sole, Professor in the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics, University of Barcelona.
