Biologist overcomes programmers in the BASSCOM tournament, round from the programming contest of Musala Soft and PC Magazine

The programming tournament of the Bulgarian Association of Software Companies (BASSCOM) which was held as a third round of the private programming contest of Musala Soft and PC Magazine - Bulgaria, finished with unappealing victory of Ivelina Zaharieva. Ivelina demonstrated been a participant with strong skills and knowledge during the previous 11th edition of the contest, when she competed for the first time. She is the only lady who showed such a high results in the history of the concourse.
Ivelina is an assistant of Biophysics at the Faculty of Biology in the Sofia University and programming is a hobby for her, the same as reading science fiction books. She has two children and won the big prize of 1500 BGN.
Second place was for Jordan Madjunkov followed by Vesselin Georgiev - both students at Sofia University. This year 55 competitors took part in tournament and in addition of the cash-prizes of 3000 BGN many other awards were bestowed.
The prize fund was provided with the support of the State Agency for Information Technology and Communications and sponsor-companies from BASSCOM - Nemetschek and Tumbleweed. The special encouraging awards were provided by Fadata.
The awards were bestowed at official ceremony on February 8th in the Bitburger club during the traditional New Year party of BASSCOM. Host of the event was Mr. George Sharkov - chairman of BASSCOM. Many special guests honored the party.
