Sofia, 04.10.2006

With the October publication of PC Magazine Bulgaria starts the 12th edition of the most prestigious private programming contest in Bulgaria, organized by Musala Soft and the magazine. Surprises, new challenges and great prizes are awaiting the participants.

As usual competitors from the national school and university teams of Informatics will participate. It is expected to be a strong competition. That should not stop beginners in programming, because they can learn and further improve only by challenging the best. In the previous 11th edition of the contest, Ivelina Zaharieva, an assistant at the Biologic Faculty of Sofia University, surprised everyone by becoming third in the final round. Although she is a beginner in the field of programming, she performed excellent and proved that nothing could stop people who really want to succeed. One of the traditional competitors – Rostislav Rumenov, who for two consecutive years took first place at the Bulgarian Association of Software Companies (BASSCOM) round, this year won Golden medal at the 18th International Olympiad in Informatics. The level of the contest is very high and even the participation is a challenging way of proving yourself and showing your knowledge and skills.

Prof. Krasimir Manev from the Sofia University will continue beening honorable jury. All participants who take part in all the six non-present rounds will be officially awarded at the end of the competition.

“The level of the competition is increasing and we are doing our best in order to meet the expectations of Bulgarian talents in the field of programming. There are no age restrictions and we are awaiting new participants this year. We achieved a lot, though we will not stop looking forward and aiming more. Probably one day the contest will become a regional or even international event.” – commented the organizers.

Some of the rounds are traditionally held upon the patronage of different sponsors – BASSCOM, Bulgarian Association of Software developers (BASD) and Microsoft Bulgaria. Due to the interest expressed by companies and non-profitable organizations, there will be more prizes.

PC Magazine Bulgaria and Musala Soft wish success to all participants!
