Bulgaria has won full set of medals from the 18th International Olympiad in Informatics

Rostislav Rumenov - Gold medal

The young Bulgarian Programmers returned with three medals - gold, silver and bronze from the 18th International Olympiad in Informatics. The competition took place in Merida, Mexico. Our country is 11th in the world, according to the overall standings.
Rostislav Rumenov finished 6th in the world and was awarded with gold. This was his second consecutive participation at the IOI - last year he had come back with silver.
Preslav Dat Le won the silver medal, continuing his good performance from these year’s Balkan Olympiad in Informatics.
The bronze went to Vesselin Kulev. In these-year’s BOI he was the undisputed winner with maximum points.
Our fourth national contestant - Iskren Chernev also did great in the IOI as well as at the BOI, where he won a silver medal.
The president of Bulgaria, Georgi Parvanov sent flowers to the team of Informatics wishing them future success.
Last year was announced that Bulgaria was chosen to host the Olympiad in 2009.Twenty years after the first IOI in Pravets(1989), Povdiv will gather talents from all over the world. Musala Soft is taking a major part in the preparations, developing system of the evaluation for the informatics problems, which will be used in the IOI 2009. The system is a software product, which will automate the competition processes (collecting of problems, testing, etc.).
